Elections for the Western Regional Chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is underway at a snail's pace.
The Electoral Officer, Mr Charles Korsah, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday that 27 eligible voters had voted as at 1320 hours out of 44 eligible voters who are expected to vote.
He said the voting process was moving on peacefully but slowly and attributed it to the fact that some journalists had been assigned to cover programmes.
In the regional elections, Mr Moses Dotsey Aklorbotu of the Daily Graphic and Mr Clement Adjei-Boye of the Ghanaian Times are in a fierce battle for the regional chairmanship position while Mr Godwill Arthur-Mensah of the GNA is going unopposed for the vice-chairmanship position.
Mrs Mildred Siabi-Mensah of the GNA and Peter Gbambilla of the Ghanaian Times are contesting for the regional treasurer slot.
The incumbent regional secretary, Mark Essein of the Daily Guide is going unopposed.
For the national positions, Mr Affail Monney of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) is going unopposed for the national chairmanship position.
Mr Mathias Tibu of the Ghana Institute of Journalism and Mr Abu Issa Monnie of Peace FM are vying for the national vice-chairmanship position.
Madam Rosalind Amoh of the Daily Graphic and Mrs Linda Asante Agyei of the GNA are contesting the national treasurer position while Yaa Adusei and Mary Mensah are contesting for the public affairs position.
