The deadline for the submission of entries for the 20th Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) Awards competition has been extended from Monday, June 1, to Friday, June 5.
A statement signed by Mr Dave Agbenu, GJA General Secretary, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday said the extension had been necessitated by appeals from many contestants outside Accra, particularly in the three regions of the north.
According to the statement, members of the Association in the three northern regions said they found one-month notice given for processing entries and for their submission to the Ghana International Press Centre, the GJA Headquarters to be too short.
It said the GJA Awards Committee was due to be inaugurated on Monday, June 8, to begin work in earnest to enable it to complete work in reasonable time before the awards ceremony, which is slated for Saturday, August 15, at the Banquet Hall, State House.
