GNECC training teams in budget tracking

Mpobi (Ash), Oct. 25, GNA- The Ghana National Education Campaign Coalition (GNECC), is training teams of District Education for All in budget and resource tracking so that members could track the usage of educational resource including the Capitation Grant. Mr. John Kwadwo Owusu, Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the GNECC who gave the hint, said the tracking and monitoring of the usage of educational resources was to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

He was speaking at a durbar organised by the GNECC to educate parents on their role in the execution of the Capitation Grant to enable the nation achieve its aim of ensuring education for all by 2015, on Wednesday at Mpobi in the Kwabre District.

Mr. Owusu the Coalition was advocating that the government provided the necessary incentives to teachers to enable them to work effectively towards the development of education in the country. He noted that government alone could not develop education and called on parents and other stakeholders to complement government efforts at promoting education.

Madam Regina Adusei, Coordinator of Girl-Child at the District Education Office, noted that the Capitation Grant had contributed immensely to the development of education in the country. She urged parents to provide their children with basic learning materials since the Grant could not cover all the cost on education. Madam Adusei expressed regret that most girls hardly go beyond the JSS level and said this must be prevented since women played meaningful roles in families and in nation building.

Nana Birago Ababio, Queen Mother of Mpobi, commended the Coalition for working to develop education in the country. She advised parents to assist their children to develop their talents to enable them contribute to meaningfully contribute to national development.

Mr. Stephen Amankwaah, head teacher of Mpobi JSS complained of inadequate chairs for the children at the kindergarten level and urged parents to help in that order adding that they should also help in the proper upkeep of the children.

He said teachers were committed to do the work and there was the need for parents to cooperate with the school management and the teachers to ensure peaceful and friendly relations among teachers and other stakeholders to ensure quality teaching and learning.
