GPRTU Chairman advises leadership

Berekum (B/A), Jan 7, GNA- Nana Yaw Manu, National Chairman of Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has advised the leadership of the Union at regional, district, and local station supervisors to ensure that inexperienced drivers do not drive over long distances.

He appealed to transport owners to engage disciplined and experienced drivers who would not take alcohol or hard drugs in order to help stem the spate of road accidents.

Nana Manu was addressing a press conference at Berekum during which he wished the leadership and members of the union a prosperous new year, long life and God's guidance in their activities.

The GPRTU Chairman cautioned drivers to be extra careful on the road and to avoid over-speeding, over-loading and unnecessary over-taking.

Nana Manu urged transport owners to honour their tax obligations and appealed to the police to co-operate with station guards in promoting discipline among drivers.
