GPSA to launch National Drug Awareness Week at Obuasi

Obuasi, March 13, GNA - The Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association (GPSA) is to organise a five-day educational campaign on safe use of drugs and other health care issues in schools, churches and market places at Obuasi.

The campaign, which forms part of activities to mark the launching of this year's National Drug Awareness Week at Obuasi, would include family planning issues, environmental sanitation and teenage pregnancy. The Week is on the theme: "HIV/AIDS and General Health Education -The Role of the Student Pharmacist," according to a statement signed by Mr Philip Salasie Tagboto President of the GPSA.


The statement said over the years the association had organised drug awareness and drug safety campaigns in various districts of the country including the Afram Plains, Oda, Techimantia and Ejisu-Juaben. It said during such periods, the pharmaceutical students committed themselves to the fight against drug abuse, HIV/AIDS and other related problems.

According to the statement, a number of dignitaries including the Minister of Health, Dr Kweku Afriyie, the Chairman of the Ghana AIDS Commission and the World Health Organisation (WHO) Country Representative, would grace the occasion. 13 March 04
