Ga Mantse marks beginning of ban on noise making in Ga State

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, yesterday marked the beginning of the ban on drumming and noising making in the state, with a call on all citizens, Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs (GARHCs) and National House of Chiefs (NHCs) to offer him the needed support in order to realise his vision of making Ga State work again.

He stated that he was not installed by any political party.

According to him, he was installed by the Principal Kingmaker of Ga Paramount Stool, Dr. Nii Tettey Kwei II through the right traditional processes and by the right kingmakers also on the strength of the 2014 ruling from the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs which declared Nii Adama latse null and void.

To this end, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II stressed the urgent need for all chiefs and citizens of the Ga state to rather join hands with him because his is non-partisan and a father to all political parties.

“They should all come together to help me to make the Ga State great and strong again,” King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, made these calls when he joined thousands of Ga people yesterday to mark the beginning of the ban on the drumming and noise making in the Ga State.

The Ga Mantse called on all churches, mosques and other religious bodies to desist from making noise as the ban starts on Monday May 14, 2018 in order to usher in the celebration of the annual Homowo festival.

He impressed upon the people on the need to ensure peace before, during and after this year’s annual Homowo festival.

He noted that “All truth loving Gas must rally behind him in the transformation of the Ga State and the ushering in of a new era of progress and prosperity.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II requested all Ga Dangmes to let go of bad blood and forge ahead for the Unity of Ga.

He indicated his paramount commitment is to work with the chiefs, traditional office holders, chieftaincy institutions to develop a human-centred approach to stop chieftaincy and land disputes in Ga communities.

Meanwhile, a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mr. Gilbert Nii Ankrah and copied to Today outlined the following guidelines to ensure full compliance with the directive.



According to the statement, during the period of the ban, the usual form of worship should be confined to the premises of churches/mosques and noise levels be minimized to the barest limits possible.

It said the religious bodies and the Traditional Authorities must show respect for one another and restrain their followers from making derogatory and inflammatory remarks about the beliefs and practices of one another

The statement asserted that the positioning of loudspeakers outside the premises of churches, mosques, and pubs are banned.

It stressed that roadside evangelists are to cease their activities during this period.

“Apart from an identifiable task force which consists of AMA personnel, the Police Service and Representatives from the Traditional Councils with tags, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis," it explained.

It added that boundaries to be affected are Northern Boundary dividing Accra from the Eastern Region.

Western Boundary: Odukpon Kpehe (Kasoa) Eastern Boundary: Osu In addition, residents are to note that all villages and towns under the Osu, Ngleshie Alata and Ga Traditional Councils are affected by this ban.
