Ga Mantse visits Kantamanto market

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA - Ga Mantse Tackie Tawiah III on Wednesday welcomed government decision authorising the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to establish a special office to cater for victims of the fire disaster that swept over 600 stores and shops at Kantamanto market on Monday night. Speaking to affected traders at the market he expressed his sympathy to the victims and said he was pleased that no casualties were registered.

Accra, Sept. 24, GNA - Ga Mantse Tackie Tawiah III on Wednesday welcomed government decision authorising the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to establish a special office to cater for victims of the fire disaster that swept over 600 stores and shops at Kantamanto market on Monday night. Speaking to affected traders at the market he expressed his sympathy to the victims and said he was pleased that no casualties were registered. He said it was unfortunate that such a disastrous fire should destroy the effort of the hard working traders. The Ga Mantse asked them to exercise restraint and allow the members of the special office, which would be operative next Wednesday, to would evaluate the loss to enable government to offer them relief. Mayor of Accra Stanley Nii Adjiri Blankson announced that the flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has donated 1,000 packets of roofing sheets to the victims. He appealed to the traders to remain calm and noted that government would do everything possible to come to their aid.
