Ghana Baptist University College Receives Medical Equipment

The Ghana Baptist University College (GBUC) has received a 40-foot container full of hospital equipment from the Ghana International Health Foundation located in Canada with financial contribution and partnership from the Rotary Club of Montreal, Canada and in close cooperation with Collaboration Santé Internationale located in Quebec, Canada.

The project was facilitated by the North American Baptist Association of the Ghana Baptist Convention and the equipment are to be used at the School of Nursing of the College.


The items included 2 incubators, 15 beds with mattresses, 20 wheel chairs, 9 walkers, suction pumps, vital sign monitors, and other medical supplies worth about $80,000.


2 items of Centrifuge and microscope were to be given to the La General Hospital, Accra.


The Director of Christian Education and Auxiliaries of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev. Isaac K. Asante-Agyei has presented the items to Rev. Dr. Kojo Osei-Wusuh, the President of the Ghana Baptist University College at a ceremony at the Abuakwa Campus of the College in the Ashanti Region.

Receiving the items, the President of the GBUC, Rev. Dr. Kojo Osei-Wusuh expressed his sincerest appreciation to the donors for the kind gesture. He said the appeal was made over 2 years ago and was thankful to God that it had finally arrived.


He said the equipment will go a long way in the delivery of medicare at the Community clinic that will be attached to the School of Nursing of the University College at Abuakwa and also aid in the training of the nurses. He said some will also be sent to the Baptist Medical Centre, Nalerigu and also promised to put the equipment to the use for which they were donated.


He also expressed his appreciation to Rev. Asante-Agyei, who is the GBUC representative in Accra for his untiring effort to get the container at the school and also thanked the government for waiving the customs and other duties on the container.


Present at the ceremony were Rev. Dr. Ayim-Nyarko, the Registrar, Rev. Dr. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi, the Dean of the School of Theology and Ministry (STM), Rev. Kyei-Prempeh, Rev. Ampofo Nimako and Mr. De-Graft, all of STM.
