The 13th Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF) on the theme: “Professional Book Publishing and E-Services: A Resource for National Development,” has ended in Accra.
The five-day fair brought together 73 participants of, which 60 were from Ghana, 10 from India, two from Nigeria and one from Cameroun.
It was under the auspices of organisations such as the Advance Information Technology Institute (Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT), Top Facts Publishing Limited, EPP Books Service, Aki-Ola Publications Ghana Limited, Type Company Limited, Azolia Books, Afram Publications Limited Graphic Communications Group Limited and SAP Prints Solutions..
Dr Samuel Osafo Acquaah, the President, Ghana Book Publishers Association, in his closing remarks described the fair as a huge success compared to previous years.
He lauded the participants for part-taking in the fair, and further urged the media to continue to let the society appreciate the importance of books.
Mr James Appiah-Berko, the President, Ghana Printers and Paper Converters Association, said it was heartening to have participants from across the globe part-taking in the fair.
Mr S. Sengupta, the Joint Director, Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council of India, in his remarks said participating in the fair had granted the opportunity to acquire new experiences.
Mrs Anne Yayra Sakyi, the Chairperson, 13th GIBF Organising Committee, announced that the 14th edition would held next year from Tuesday, November 1, to Thursday November 3, at the Accra International Conference Centre; as part of efforts to bring the fair closer to public.
She urged interested participants to register now in order to secure a venue for themselves.
Mrs Sakyi observed that social media played a very critical role in spreading the good news about the 13th GIBF; which is the only book fair for publishers globally.
Certificates and citations were given to deserving participants.
