As part of his contributions towards higher education in the country, the President of Ghana Link Network Services Limited, Mr. Nick Danso Adjei has donated a whopping amount of GH? 50,000 (?500m) to the newly opened Anglican University College of Technolgy in Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo region.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mr. Danso Adjei who is also the president of Nick TC Scan limited said the donation is his humble support to the authorities of the university in their ongoing effort to fully complete the construction of facilities for the college. “Even though the college has formally opened admissions for prospective students, there are some facilities which are still under construction, thus the donation is to assist in their completion”, he noted.

Mr. Danso Adjei who made his donation known during the inaugural ceremony of the university’s premier campus did not hide his enthusiasm for the establishment of the university in Nkoranza where he hails from. “The fact that the Anglican Church chose my hometown to establish its first university in the country gives me pleasure to donate towards such a historic feat”, he said.

He expressed his love for education, adding that higher learning of the country’s citizenry is undoubtedly one of the prerequisites of achieving the status of a developed nation. He also asserted that education makes the youth employable and keeps them away from indulging in social vices such as armed robbery and prostitution.

The Archbishop of Internal Province of the Anglican Church of Ghana, Most Reverend (Rev.) Dr. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo who seemed surprised by the unexpected kind gesture shown by Mr. Danso Adjei expressed his gratitude and called on the government to assist the efforts of private universities by supporting them with infrastructural facilities and other necessary incentives as existing in the state universities.

Further, the archbishop paid exceptional tribute to the Omanhene of Nkoranza Traditional Area, Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV who donated four square miles of land and a substantial amount of money towards the establishment of the university.

Also present at the ceremony was Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Nkoranza, Madam Stella Amoatemaa, who represented the President, John Dramani Mahama. The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II was represented by the Adontenhene of the Asanteman Council, Nana Adu Gyamfi.

In a related development, Mr. Danso Adjei revealed that he will further contribute to the country’s education by establishing a senior high school at Bredi No. 1, one of the fastest growing towns near Nkoranza. He declared that the construction of the school project will kick-start early next year.

He added that the establishment of the school is to emulate a feat chalked by his father, the founder of the town, who built a middle school for the area several decades ago.

It will be recalled that a few years ago, Mr. Danso Adjei, handed over a police station and barracks constructed at the cost of GH ¢ 300,000 to the Bredi No 1 community.

He also provided funds for the construction of a mortuary at Saint Theresa's Roman Catholic Hospital in Nkoranza and donated GH¢10,000 to Accra Psychiatric Hospital, GH¢20,000 to Ghana Black Stars, as well as a substantial amount to support the construction of the East Legon Police Station in Accra.
