Residents of Afaseibon in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region were left in shock after a woman was found perched atop an avocado tree in the community.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, when residents initially heard the cry of a wild bird in the tree, only to discover a woman trapped on the branches making the same sound.
The Assembly member for the area, Emma, told OTEC News that the situation sent shockwaves through the community, with hundreds of residents rushing to catch a glimpse of the woman.
“Eyewitnesses recounted that dogs in the area gathered under the tree barking at the sound. This drew the attention of residents, who rushed to the scene only to see the woman on top of the tree,” he said.
The woman, who is in her late 50s, could not climb down until the Ghana National Fire Service was called in.
“It took the Fire Service to get the woman down using a rope and a ladder. Even the residents were afraid to approach her,” the Assembly member revealed.
Traditional authorities in the community had to perform a libation before the woman was taken away by the police.
