Ghana Police Command and Staff College, Winneba disinfected and fumigated

A four-hour disinfection exercise has taken place at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College situated on about 500-700-kilometer land at Winneba.

The exercise was carried out by Zoomlion Ghana Limited in collaboration with Administration of the Ghana Police Service and the Emergency National Disinfection Exercise.

Offices, dormitories, the barracks, Syndicate rooms. the compound and the outskirts of the college were disinfected.

In an interview with the media after the exercise, Chief Superintendent Samuel Asiedu Kofi Okanta, Acting Commandant of the College commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the decision to have all police facilities across the country to be disinfected to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

“The move by the IGP was timely and will go a long way to protect the men and their families, as well as others who visit the facilities from contracting the pandemic and other diseases, he indicated.

Chief Superintendent Asiedu believed the exercise would boost the confidence of officers who may have the opportunity to school at the college and further assured that it would also continue with routine clean up exercises at their offices and the barracks.

He urged the officers to adhere to all the protocols in place to augment the efforts of the government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Ernest Osei, Central Regional Manager of Zoomlion Company for his part, said the exercise was to get rid of the virus and bacterial from the area, aimed to prevent the COVID-19 from spreading further.

According to him, the previous disinfection exercises the company executed in Markets, Senior High Schools, and Universities were highly successful, hence, the exercise will be carried out across police facilities in the Region and assured that they will work as expected of them.

He expressed the need for Authorities of the College to continue to ensure that all persons who entered its premises washed their hands under running water with soap placed at the entrance of the main gate of the facility and as well observe the social distancing to help stop the spread of the pandemic
