He commended members of the Red Cross Society across the country for their dedication and commitment to duty, which had saved many lives during accidents and disasters. The President called on cooperate institutions, philanthropists and Non-Governmental organizations to support the Red Cross to enable it to serve the nation better.

A newly constructed clinic put up by the society would soon be inaugurated at Asisriwa in the Bosomtwe District to provide health care for people leaving along Lake Bosomtwe, some of whom travel long distances to access health care.

Mr Kwadwo Oduro Appeatu, Ashanti Regional Manager of the Society, indicated that currently the Red Cross was only active in 10 districts with only 63 chapters operating.
