Accra, Feb 6, GNA - The Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) on Sunday launched its 2005 Bible Week and activities marking its 40th Anniversary with a call on Christians to trust in God and his word for guidance.
"Our nation Ghana can achieve our desired goals of human resource and private sector, if those in government and the people of this nation depend upon God and his word"
The Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana speaking at the ceremony urged Members of Parliament and the Council of State also to depend on the word of God in their deliberations.
He said the present situation of the World could change for the better if people trust in God and "his unchanging word".
The theme for the 40th Anniversary of the Society, which would be climaxed on September 18, this year is, "God's unchanging word for a changing world".
It is aimed at providing and promoting the Holy Scriptures as well as distributing the Bible in different languages and media to meet the needs of the people.
Rev. Dr. Frimpong-Manso said wars and the devastation of life and property especially in Africa depicts signs of the end time and the changing World.
He noted that the problem of the world had always been corruption in the hearts of men and stated that it was only God who could change individuals and nations.
The Reverend William W. Dontoh, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church called on the leadership of Churches to encourage their members to take active part in the Bible Society. He urged Pastors to study the scriptures very well to protect their members against false doctrines.
