Madam Helen Ntoso, Volta Regional Minister, has observed that Ghana’s Most Beautiful, a beauty pageant being organised by an Accra based television station is promoting “family life” in the country.
She said the show, mostly enjoyed by family units, is gradually shaping families to live in unity.
Madam Ntoso made the observation at the launch of season IX of the show in the Regional capital, Ho.
She described the show as one of the most watched television programmes by Ghanaians due to the display of the country’s rich tradition and culture and commended TV3, for the initiative.
Madam Ntoso lauded past contestants for helping promote the tourist potentials of the country through their performances.
Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State underscored the need to use the show to promote local tourism.
“Foreigners will only go where locals go, so we have to take this seriously,” he stated.
Mr Augustine Dickson, Chief Executive Officer of TV3, said the regional launch of the event was for endorsement from traditional authorities and to bring the show to the doorsteps of the people.
He said his outfit is committed to create local content with focus on unearthing talents.
Mr Dickson commended the Region for hosting the launch of season IX, describing the area as home to “rich culture and tradition... intelligent and beautiful women”.
The colourful event was highly patronised and used to introduce the 10 new contestants from across the regions to the gathering.
The show is on the theme: "Redefining beauty, promoting national unity."
