Kumasi, Dec 16, GNA- A pastor on Tuesday appealed to people to cease associating the HIV/AIDS menace with either witchcraft or curses. Rev Joseph K. Gyimah, founder of the True Light of Christ Church, said until Ghanaians disabuse their minds that the disease emanates from witchcraft it might be difficult to control its spread.

Rev Gyimah said this when he addressed a forum held by the youth group of the church at Abrepo in Kumasi to discuss the impact of the HIV/AIDS and their role in helping educate people about it. He appealed to churches to play a more active role in complementing efforts of health institutions and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) at helping to change the wrong perception about the disease.

Rev Gyimah suggested that apart from using special occasions to talk about the disease, churches should focus on the disease in their sermons to highlight and educate their congregation on its dangers.
