Ghanaians urged to be worthy ambassadors

Ghanaians have been called upon to hold the flag of the nation in high esteem through integrity, discipline and faithfulness to promote national development as well as worthy ambassadors of the state.

“Every Ghanaian, irrespective of our political inclinations, social standing, and tribal roots among others, must eschew all forms of negative tendencies; perform our individual roles as if we were all official ambassadors of the state, thereby, contributing to the development of our nation”.

Rev. Raphael Mac Attih, Synod Clerk of the Global Evangelical Church, made the call at the 2016 National Catechists’ Conference held at the Church’s Convention Centre at Wumenu near Ho in the Volta Region.

The four-day Conference was on the theme: “The Role of Catechists as Called Ambassadors in Fulfilling the Business of His Kingdom”. Over 500 catechists of the Church within and outside the country participated.

Rev. Attih who was the main speaker noted that, ambassadors lived in foreign countries and represented their nations. “Christians are to represent Jesus Christ and be His ambassadors and so must every Ghanaian hold the flag of the nation in high esteem,” he said.

The Synod Clerk touched on the areas of “called ambassadors”, which involved integrity, Christian discipline and faithfulness to God, as well as fulfilling the business of God’s Kingdom which dwelt more on the Great Commission to evangelise to all nations.

Right Rev. Dr. Setorwu Ofori, Moderator of the Church, who was the Guest of Honour at the opening session of the Conference, said Christians must speak for those who could not speak for themselves especially in circumstances where people were disenfranchised in one way or the other.

“The Christian Leader who wants to act or speak for others need to be observant, go the extra mile, be patient, bring others on board, witness and make disciples as well as possess biblical tools like prayer, the Word, help others and also offer Godly Counsel,” he said.

Catechist Godwin Aklamanu, President of the National Catechists’ Association, reminded his colleagues to always recognise their positions as Catechists to support their pastors and not to see themselves as pastors, to forestall disagreements between the two offices.

He pledged the Association’s unflinching support for the new Moderator and his lieutenants in order to make their tenure successful.

Present to grace the occasion were the female and male Synod Committee Executives in the persons of Mrs. Chirstie Boboobee and Professor Remmeil Adorsraku respectively.
