Elmina (C/R), May 8, GNA - The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem District Director of National commission on Civic Education (NCCE), Neenyi F.K.A. Tagoe, has admonished all stakeholders in educating the public on the forthcoming general elections to make national integration the central theme of their programmes.
Neenyi Tagoe appealed to the media and politicians to ensure that their publications, radio and television programmes and utterances were geared towards promotion of peace and national integration.
"Events in some of our neighbouring countries should serve as a lesson to us if we want to use ethnicity and tribalism to champion our political ambition," he cautioned.
Neenyi Tagoe gave the advice at a football match between a selected team from the political parties in KEEA and a team of fishermen as part of activities marking the celebration of the fourth national constitution week.
Nana Ato Arthur, the District Chief Executive, stressed the need for members of political parties to co-exist peacefully to ensure violence-free elections in December.
The DCE urged people of the area to use the football match as a starting point of cultivating togetherness to enhance peace and development
The combined team of the political parties won the match 4-0. Cash prizes, certificates and copies of the abridged version of the constitution were presented to the two teams.
