Kumasi, Sept 11, GNA- Mr Kwabena Appiah Pinkrah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Akrofuom in Ashanti, has urged people in leadership positions to develop positive thinking attitudes towards the nation's development process.

He said it was regrettable that some people in responsible positions often became pessimistic and think negatively on policies and programmes initiated by the government to move the nation's development forward.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi, Mr Pinkrah cited the introduction of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Capitation Grant, School Feeding Programme, Metro Mass Transit and others which had been negatively criticized by the opponents of the government, but said their smooth implementation were helping to alleviate poverty among the people.

He said even though people had the right to criticize any decision of the government, there was the need for such people to offer constructive criticisms to ensure that the policy was fairly implemented to benefit all people.

"Each one has the right to criticize, but the criticism should be positive to help find solutions to the nation's problems", he emphasised.

The MP advised Ghanaians to desist from the act of blackmailing, nepotism, selfishness, tribalism and other acts that could ignite conflict in the country.

Mr Pinkrah appealed to the youth to develop the spirit of hard work to enable them to contribute meaningfully to the nation development. 11 Sept.07
