Girls told to focus on education career development

Sat, 6 Dec 2014 Source: GNA

An educationist, Mrs. Theodosia Wilhemina Jackson, has urged girls to focus on education career development and work hard to live their dreams.

They should refuse to rush into early marriages, to escape the trap of poverty and economic dependence.

Mrs. Jackson, Principal of the Jackson College of Education, said they need to take responsibility for their future, by making the right decisions and life choices.

She made the call at a counseling session held for female students of the Elite College at Ayeduase near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.

The programme dubbed: “Girls Talk,” was organized to help them to concentrate on their studies and shield them from bad peer influence.

Mrs. Jackson told them to avoid anything that could ruin their education, and bring to complete waste the investment and huge sacrifices their parents were making to give them a better and more secured future.

They should ensure self-discipline and do away with immorality and shameful lifestyles.

Miss Evelyn Deladem Dogbatse, Public Relations Officer of the College, said the programme was meant to provide them with adequate guidance to overcome pitfalls.

She said everything would be done to guide them against making mistakes they would be forced to live with throughout their lives.
