Goaso (B/A), Aug 14, GNA- Mr Wilfred Duku-Dengah, Secretary of the Asunafo District branch of Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), on Thursday appealed to executives of the association to encourage teachers to work hard and defend the image of the profession. He was addressing 40 newly elected District and Local Executives of the Association at the end of a day's workshop at Goaso in Brong Ahafo. Mr Duku-Dengah advised teachers to live and work above reproach and avoid malingering, absenteeism and misuse of class hours.

The participants pledged to support the implementation the Free Compulsory Universal Basic Education (FCUBE) policy and called on the Ghana Education Service to expedite payment of teachers' medical bills, transfer, travelling and transport allowances.
