Rev. Dr. Sylvanus Amegashiti Elorm, the founding and senior pastor of Trinity Temple Assemblies of God in Tema Community 10, has urged aspiring ministers to approach the calling with selflessness and dedication.

Speaking at his retirement commendation service on November 23, 2024, after 25 years of stewardship to the church, he warned against entering the ministry for financial gain, stating, “If you come to the ministry to make money, you will be disappointed and end up scandalous which will not be good for you at the end.”

Reflecting on his decades of service, Rev. Dr. Elorm described his ministry as “an awesome journey” filled with challenges and triumphs.

He emphasized that ministry requires sacrifices and a life dedicated to serving others.

Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, reminded attendees of the spiritual mission, stating, “Ghana is not safe until souls are saved.”

He encouraged continued intercession for the nation and underscored the importance of prayer in ministry.

“In Assemblies of God, we are a very organized church; we operate with the constitution and very strong administrative policies. Our retirement age is 65, and after a pastor serves faithfully, we retire you at a ceremony like this.

“It is called commendation service, then we present a package to you. To make sure that you live a comfortable retirement life…old age is not an excuse for not praying.

“Ghana is not safe until the souls are saved.”

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the General Overseer of the Action Chapel International Ministry, praised his unwavering dedication, saying, “Your voice will not be silent. You have served well and deserve applause.”

To honour his service, the church fraternity presented Rev. Dr. Elorm with a four-bedroom house, an undisclosed monetary package, and a monthly stipend to ensure his comfort during retirement.

Rev. Dr. Elorm’s wife, Mrs. Olivia Elorm, has been his steadfast supporter throughout his ministry.

A registered nurse specializing in ophthalmology, she has served in the medical field for over 35 years. The couple, married for 36 years, is blessed with children and a grandchild.

He has held leadership roles, such as Director of Administration for Assemblies of God, Ghana, and served on numerous committees dedicated to church governance and growth.

He also served as Secretary to the Assemblies of Ghana 75th Anniversary Planning Committee, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee, and Board Member of the Assemblies of God Literature Committee from 2001 to 2004.
