Gomoa Central Assembly inaugurates coronavirus Management Team

The Gomoa Central District Assembly has inaugurated its COVID-19 Management Team with a call on members to step up their campaign to help reduce the possible spread of the deadly virus.

The team is made up of District Directors of Health Service, Education, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), District Coordinating Director and the Police Commander.

The rest are the Disease Control Officer, Environment Health Officer, Laboratory Technician, School Health Educator, Communication Sub-Committee of the Assembly and Traditional Rulers.

Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, Gomoa Central District Chief Executive (DCE) who inaugurated the Team, asked them to intensify sensitization campaign to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

He said in addition to the COVID-19 Management Team, a Rapid Response Team has also been formed to serve as a back-up to help monitor activities of the educational campaign.

The DCE said the Rapid Response team was made up of National Ambulance Officers, District Director of Health, Laboratory Technician Officer, Environmental Health Officer and other Health Professionals.

The DCE said the COVID 19 Team has met Muslim Leaders, Christian Council of Churches, Market Queens, Leaders of Artisans and other identifiable groups in the District to ensure strict compliance of President Akufo-Addo’s directives on the COVID-19.

He said the Communication Sub-Committee of COVID-19 had started working aggressively in all communities in the District to sensitize the people on the need to observe personal hygiene and other measures to avoid contracting of coronavirus infection.

He said the Assembly had budgeted GHC40,000.00 to support the Team to work effectively and applauded the public for seriously complying with the directives to check the spread.

Mr Otoo said the Member of Parliament(MP) for Gomoa Central, Mrs Naana Eyiah Quansah has provided 100 Veronica buckets, 100 washing Basins, 100 hand sanitizers, 100 tissues and other items to 40 communities in the District.

The DCE said the Sanitary Items donated by the MP have been placed at all vantage points in various communities to ensure effective hand washing under running water for at least 20 seconds to avoid the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Otoo stated that the MP had also donated some items to palaces, markets centres, all health facilities, Community Centers and public places.

He appealed to the people in the District to be circumspect about the dangers of the pandemic, adding that it was better to take precautionary measures than to contract disease.
