Gomoa DCE saved from angry NDC supporters

Mr Isaac Kingsley Ehunu Armah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa East was on Friday whisked away from being attacked by angry supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The DCE was taken away from the election grounds to avert the imminent attack during the Gomoa East NDC constituency delegate’s congress at Gomoa Potsin.

Armed Police personnel from the Agona Swedru Divisional Command led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samuel Amfo, escorted the DCE into his vehicle amid hooting and insults.

The agitations from the delegates were due to the refusal of the DCE to pay them GH¢20 as their T&T and instead paid only GH¢10.

Before the agitations, the DCE had explained that he and the executives proposed to pay GH¢10 as T&T and GH¢10 for snacks since they did not have enough money to pay the GH¢30 expected.

This explanation did not go down well with the delegates, and they started hooting at the DCE.

The delegates accused the DCE of doing little to assist the entire party supporters in the Gomoa East constituency.

Mr. Richard Banes, an election observer and NDC Youth leader in the constituency also accused Mr. Ehunu Armah of not doing well to support the education of the youth in the District.

He called on the President Mahama to remove the DCE from the office since his continued stay in office could affect the fortunes of the party in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in 2016.

Mr. Banes said the DCE was not helping in the development of the party structures in Gomoa East, adding that, the attitude of the DCE would deter members from committing themselves fully to work for the NDC in the next general elections.

Mr Peter Essel, newly elected constituency chairman condemned the delegates and some supporters for their irresponsible behavior over the payment of the T&T.

He called for unity and cooperation among the members of the Party, adding that, the New Patriotic party (NPP) must not be allowed to win the 2016 elections.

The chairman thanked the delegates for the confidence and trust reposed in him and pledged to work hard to retain the seat in the next election.
