Gomoa-Mpota (C/R), Oct. 23, GNA - The Gomoa District Assembly has, within the past three years constructed 57 new school blocks and rehabilitated 14 old ones at the cost of more than 15 billion cedis. Miss Joyce Aidoo, District Chief Executive for Gomoa, announced this at a ceremony at Gomoa-Mpota, near Gomoa-Okyereko, at which the keys of one of such new school blocks were handed over to the leaders of Mpota, Mampong, and Adawukwa joint school management committee. Miss Aidoo said within the same period of NPP's administration the assembly also provided 15,000 dual desks to various primary and junior secondary schools in the district.

She said six more school projects would be put on tender soon for work to commence.

Miss Aidoo assured the people in the Gomoa District of NPP Government's uninterrupted determination to provide them with more educational, health and other development projects and strongly appealed to the electorate in the area to return the party to power in the December elections.

According to the District Chief Executive, funds used to implement the school projects were taken from the Ghana Educational Trust Fund (GETFund) and other financial facilities provided by the Government. Miss Aidoo counselled people in the district to strive to maintain the highest degree of self-control and comportment in the electioneering campaign, and during the next December general elections.

She commended Mr. Johnson Aggrey and the contractor who prosecuted the Mpota school project for the good work done and advised him to keep it up.

Mr. Isaac I. Baidoo, Gomoa District Director of Education, advised parents at Gomoa-Mpota, Gomoa-Mampong and Gomoa-Adawukwa whose children attend classes at the Mpota primary school to ensure maximum patronage of the facility by enrolling all their children, who have attained school going age.

Mr. Baidoo said that this is the only way they could express their appreciation to the Government for the excellent performance so far. He asked teachers in the area to maintain the dedication to work they have cultivated over the years.
