Nkawkaw, Oct 6, GNA - The government has allocated 8.7 billion cedis towards the reconstruction of Nkawkaw Secondary School (KAWSEC) into a model secondary school in the Kwahu South District.
Facilities to be provided under the programme include administrative and science blocks, a 12-unit classroom block, a three-unit dormitory, 10 bungalows, a modern playing field, a dinning hall and access roads.
The Member of Parliament for the Nkawkaw, Okerchiere Kwabena Adusah, said this when he cut the sod for the construction of a 4.5-kilometre Nkawkaw town road at the cost of 3.5 billion cedis at Domeabra, a suburb at Nkawkaw.
He said the road would be completed within 10 months.
The MP said he had spent 80 percent of his share of MP's Common Fund towards the rehabilitation and provision of furniture for basic schools in the constituency and has also awarded 200,000 cedis annual scholarship to 21 basic school children.
The District Chief Executive, Mr Raymond Osafo Djan, said the government is reconstructing a number of roads in the district and therefore urged those living along the roads to co-operate with the contractor to complete the project on scheduled.
He said the assembly had purchased 80 million cedis worth of cement and roofing sheets for the rehabilitation of basic school blocks in the district while 100 sodium bulbs have also been bought to rehabilitate streetlights in some communities in the district.
