Winneba (C/R) May 24 GNA-The out-going Student Representative Council President of the Winneba of Education Winneba, Nana Kwaku Ofori Addai, have appealed to the government to support the completion of some on-going hostel projects being undertaking by three public universities to help solve accommodation problems facing them.
Nana Addai said, if funds are released by the government to complete hostel projects being undertaken by the Student Representative Councils of the University of Education, Winneba, University of Cape Coast and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, it would help increase student intake in the institutions. Nana Addai made the appeal at a ceremony where the out-going SRC executives of the UEW handed over to in-coming executive in Winneba on Saturday.
The out-going President said work on the various hotels being financed with students contributions, most of which had reached advance stages had been very slow due to lack of funds. Mr Saeed Faruk, in-coming President, promised to cooperate with the University Authority and ensure discipline to promote teaching and learning at the university.
He, on behalf of the executives also promised to lead good exemplary lives, adding; "I will also go with leadership by example". Mr Faruk stated that, accountability would be his hallmark and would therefore institute a programme dubbed; "meet your leader", adding that, he would not forget his promise to their disabled colleagues having a representation in both the general and local assembly.
