Wassa Akropong (W/R), March 18, GNA- Mr Joe Mantey, National Coordinator of the National Youth Council said government had committed one billion cedis for the completion of the Youth Development Training Institute at Wassa Akropong in the Western Region. He said the Institute expected to be completed in June this year, would run courses like electrical and electronic engineering, carpentry and joinery, building construction, plumbing, secretarial and computer science Mr Mantey made this known during a two-day duty tour of the Wassa Akropong and Ahanta West Leadership Training institutes.
Kasapreko Kwame Bassanyin III, a traditional ruler, who donated the land for the Institute pledged the assistance of the traditional council for the speedy completion the project.
In a related development, the Ahanta West District Assembly had released 500 million cedis from its share of the HIPC fund for the construction of a six-classroom block for the Abura Youth leadership Training Institute in the Ahanta West District.
Mr Kwesi Biney, acting District Chief Executive said the Institute would assist in the development of the skills of the youth to make them self- employed.
The World Vision International (WVI) is also constructing a two-storey girls hostel for the Abura Leadership Centre. 18 March 05
