Kumasi, Aug 22, GNA - Mr. Samuel Sarpong, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), said Government was determined to give a necessary push to the national youth policy.
The authorities would therefore commit resources and budgetary allocations to the implementation of the policy that was launched this month to enable the youth play crucial role in national development. Mr Sarpong said these in an address read on his behalf, at the end of a four-day conference to climax the 10th national anniversary celebration of the Brotherhood Church Youth Ministry on the theme: "The role of the youth in Church and national development", in Kumasi on Sunday.
He the "onus lies on all of us to inculcate in the youth the tenets of democracy, the respect for human rights, promotion of positive values, the love of Christ, brotherliness, tolerance and the respect for diversity to promote a harmonious society".
Mr Sarpong commended the Church for complementing government's development efforts in the country and asked that such a value should be inculcated in the youth.
Primate Seth Kwaku Adofo, Spiritual Head of the Brotherhood Church, in a sermon advised Christians to strive for righteouness, love and peace and pray unceasingly for God's word to be their light in all their endeavours.
He cautioned the youth to refrain from negative lifestyles that could ruin their lives and work hard to win more people into Christendom.
Mr Francis Adofo, the National Vice-President of the Ministry, called on members to be abreast with topical issues so that that could contribute meaningfully to national development. Mrs. Charity Osei-Owusu, Women's Organizer of the group, said the ministry had intensified its efforts to win more souls for Christ. 22 Aug 10
