Government nominees for DCE posts in Eastern Region get 100 percent votes

Akyem Ofoase, April 22, GNA - Two nominees for the post of District Chief Executive in the Eastern Region were on Monday confirmed by their district assemblies by 100 percent votes.

Mr Tom Budu, the government nominee for the Akyemmansa District Assembly, was the first to get the nod when all the 31 assembly members at an emergency meeting held at Akyem Ofoase voted in his favour to become the DCE.

Mr Budu thanked the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and called for closer co-operation from all to help fight against poverty in the district. He said he would operate an open administration and would not embark on witch hunting.

Mr David Oppon-Kusi, Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, appealed to all to burry their political differences and to work as a team to move the district forward.

Osabarima Owusu Gyamadu, Eastern Regional Representative on the Council of State, advised the new DCE and the assembly members not to allow their personal interests to override the development of the area. At Akyem Swedru Baafour Mensah-Takyi was also approved by 100 percent votes when all the 32 assembly members voted in his favour. He thanked the assembly members for their support and gave the assurance that he would live up to expectation. Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, Eastern Regional Minister, told the new DCEs reciprocate the confidence reposed in them by living above reproach.
