Government presents sewing machines to seamstresses

Mpraeso, Sept. 13, GNA - Mr Joseph Omari, the Kwahu South District Chief Executive, has said the government was committed to empowering unemployed youth to acquire vocational skills to enable them set up their own businesses to reduce unemployment in the country.

He said the government would, through the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), train and equip more than 100 unemployed youth in the district in various skills.

Mr Omari was speaking at the presentation of sewing machines to 28 women who had completed six months of training in dressmaking under the NYEP in the District.

He said the government had a clear cut policy for the youth and their development and that it would not renege on its promise to equip them.

Mr Omari said various thematic areas had been developed under the NYEP to prepare the youth towards employment and gave the assurance that the assembly would continue to support the NYEP to succeed.
