The government of Ghana has distributed three thousand (3,000) school uniforms to the Basic Schools in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region to enhance quality education.

Additionally, two hundred and ten (210) English Dictionaries and also fifteen (15) boxes of chalk were distributed to the schools.

Presenting the items on behalf of the government to the Jomoro Municipal Education Directorate at Half Assini, the MCE, Hon. Ernest Kofie noted that the gesture will go a long way to facilitate effective teaching and learning in the schools in his area.

He added it will also help needy but serious-minded students to participate actively in school.

The MCE reminded the Directorate that government and the assembly were fully aware of their responsibilities towards quality education and revealed that the government has put up a lot of strategic interventions to match up with the task.

He seized the opportunity to commend President Akufo-Addo for making education a priority and also hailed him for implementing Free SHS.

The MCE promised to distribute 800 mono and dual desks to some selected needy schools in the area.

"A lot of 800 mono and dual desks would also be delivered by the middle of March this year, for distribution to selected needy schools in the Municipality", he hinted.

He also said the Assembly has completed the renovation of a 6-unit classroom block at Ehoaka and construction of a new 3-unit classroom block at Mpeasem.

He explained, "These projects would soon be handed over for use".

He concluded "A lot is being done to improve the quality education for our children, but there is a lot more to be done. I, therefore, call on all stakeholders in education delivery, to play their respective roles well. I believe with effective collaboration and cooperation we can do more for education and others in the Municipality".

The Municipal Education Director of the area, Mr. George Effah thanked the government for the kind gesture and pledged to use the items to achieve its intended purposes.
