Accra, Oct. 5, GNA - Government has renewed the curfew imposed on Bawku Municipality and Gushegu Township and their immediate environs for another week with effect from Monday, October 5. A statement issued in Accra on Tuesday by Mr Cletus Avoka, Minister of the Interior, said the curfew hours remained unchanged from midnight to 0400 hours each day.
It said the decision was on the advice from the Upper East and Northern Regional Security Councils.
The government commended the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders and the people in the areas for sustaining the peace. The statement said it was the expectation of government that all factions to the conflict joined hands and worked towards lasting peace, which was a prerequisite for development.
Government reiterated that there was a ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality, Zabzugu, Bindari, Pusiga, Zoasi and the Gushegu Townships and their environs from carrying arms, ammunitions or any offensive weapons and anyone found with any arms or ammunition would be arrested and prosecuted.
