Nii Djamah Vanderpuye, the Deputy Minister of the Greater Accra Region, has presented GHC 1, 000 to the bereaved family of the Mamprobi-Soko fire tragedy.

The money is to help the deceased families bury their lost ones.

The Deputy Minister also presented some items including four bags of rice, blankets, mats, soap, cups and rubber bowls to replace some of the items damaged by the fire.

Nii Vanderpuye made the presentation when he and some officials of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly visited the family at their residence at Mamprobi-Soko.

A woman and her two daughters were set ablaze on March 2 by a man believed to have been jilted by his girl-friend in favor of the woman’s younger brother.

The suspect was said to have poured petrol on the three, 36-year-old Rosemond Allotey, 11-year old Charlotte Quartey and seven-year-old Emmanuella Quartey who were asleep in their single-room at Mamprobi Soko in Accra.

The three suffered serious burns and were taken to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital where they died the next day.

Rowland Tawia, Rosemond’s younger brother who lives in Takoradi, is said to be embroiled in a love tussle with Bernard Owusu Acheampong, the suspect over a young lady alleged to be the suspect’s ex-girlfriend.

Nii Vanderpuye appealed to the police to ensure that the suspect faced the law.
