Govt Officials from Volta must do more for the region

Kpedze, (V/R), Aug. 23, GNA - Most Reverend Francis Lodonu, Bishop of the Ho Diocese of the Catholic Church, has urged government officials from the Volta region to pursue a positive agenda for the region's rapid development.

This would require constant reminders to President John Evans Atta Mills of his promises to the people and the region's expectations of his government, he said.

Bishop Lodonu made the call when some MPs and government officials attended the ordination of Valerius I. Kosikojo Mensah, Anthony Delali Azah, Matthew Kwame Mensah and Simon Peter Esiawonam Koku Dagadu as Catholic priests at Kpedze.

Bishop Lodonu observed that the patience of the region for the previous government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) must now be rewarded with a significant developmental transformation. He said the previous government left some landmarks in the region but the people expected the current government to do much better. Bishop Lodonu said while some road projects in the region had been completed, others were being tackled with many requiring urgent attention.

Mr Isaac Kordobisah, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, urged the people to be supportive of their leaders, and advice or correct them in privacy because every good leader would appreciate some advice as an expression of love.

He urged the new priests to be ready for criticisms in the same measure as the praises they receive but should remain steadfast in the pursuit of their calling. 23 Aug. 09
