Gushegu District Assembly embarks on projects

Gushegu(N/R), May 26, GNA - The Gushegu District Assembly has embarked on about 71 projects, particularly on education, health, road rehabilitation, and social amenities, to improve the standards of living of the people.

Mr. Fuseini Alhassan, District Chief Executive (DCE)for Gushegu, who disclosed this to Ghana News Agency at Gushegu on Tuesday, said the move was in fulfillment of the Government's 94Better Ghana Agenda", which seeks to bring development to the doorsteps of the people.


He said that 39 of the projects have been completed while the remaining was at various stages of completion, and cited the ongoing Health Assistant School project, construction of a three-unit classroom block at Kpatinga at the cost of GHc43, 987.59, a three-unit classroom block at Nagnani, at GHc44, 938.94.


Mr. Alhassan also said work on classroom blocks was ongoing at Tindang and Gushegu at GHc43, 987.59 and GHc42, 996.24 respectively, all funded by the Canadian International Development Agency.


He said the renovation and rehabilitation of the DCE's bungalow was at GHc43,335.78 and GHc26,780.44 while the construction of a four-seater KVIP was at GHc10,730.47.

On health, Mr. Alhassan said a clinic was built at Nabuli at the cost of GHc56, 259.78, and a nurses quarters was constructed and furnished at the cost of GHc53, 153.11 and a clinic was built and furnished at Zamashegu at GHc88, 950.00.


He said the Ghana Education Trust Fund was used to fund some projects in the area, including the construction of six-unit classroom block for the Gushegu Senior High School at the cost of GHc150,000, six-unit classroom block each at Gaa and Kpatinga at GHc149,520.30 and GHc149,976.54 respectively.


Mr. Alhassan said Kpantinga and surrounding communities would benefit from a 84,000 Euros Small Water System.


He said some youths had been employed under various models of the National Youth Employment Programme, stressing that the Government would be retained in Election 2012 due to the numerous projects being undertaken across the country.
