The Here for Perfection Organization (H4P), a special advocate for persons with disabilities, has organised its second end-of-year Christmas party for pupils, care-givers and parents of the Autism Awareness, Care and Training Centre (AACT) in Accra.

The party, on the theme: “Creativity in Disability,” was to create awareness to the effect that disability is not inability, thus the organization is dedicating the month of December to celebrate the abilities of persons with disabilities.

Mr Marilyin Martison, a member of the group, said the organization which has been in existence for almost three years, has made phenomenal impact in Ghana through its special advocacy for persons with disabilities.

“Over this period, we have supported and partnered with several special educational institutions, in our bid to achieve our vision of bringing dignity to persons with disabilities,” he said.

He said the organization’s concept of bringing dignity to disability was portrayed in the establishment of activities that foster inclusion as opposed to segregation and discrimination.

He said it was of utmost importance to acknowledge a peculiar ability associated with persons with autism- that is, the originality in their creativity, adding, this would bring a number of significant innovations and creative works the world has known and continues to benefit from which were initiatives for persons with autism.

He explained that one of the greatest gifts the able fraternity can present to persons with disabilities, is a dedication to harness and amplify their abilities, that is, the bedrock on which this year’s Christmas party was founded.

He said as we are rightly aware, in this festive season, various regular schools would be celebrating their end of year parties and we often tend to forget our brothers and sisters with special needs, this is the time they need us most to make them feel a part of society and also let them know they have not been forgotten”.

Mr Martison called on policy-makers, stakeholders and corporate institutions to offer the needed infrastructure and support that will help promote the productivity and creativity of persons with disabilities, as well as lessen the burden on care-givers and parents of these special ones.

The organisation showed appreciation to parents, care-givers for the love, sacrifice and support to persons living with disabilities throughout the year.
