Nalerigu (N/R), July 15, GNA - The Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry and Presidential Initiatives, Hajia Alima Mahama has commissioned two projects estimated at 130 million cedis in the Mamprusi East District.
The projects include an 80 million-cedi street lights and a 10-seater KVIP also at the cost of 50 million cedis.
The Deputy Minister told the gathering that the projects initiated in the district by the government was in fulfilment of the promise to provide such facilities to improve upon the conditions of living of the people in the area.
She appealed to the youth of the area to desist from acts that would impede on the development of the area. "Desist from acts of indiscipline aimed at sabotaging government efforts to provide opportunities for the development of the area," she added. She later visited a number of schools in the area and presented 12,000 exercise books valued at 1.4 million cedis to primary schools in Gambaga and Nalerigu.
Presenting the books, Hajia Mahama noted that the three Northern regions are rated as high poverty area, adding that in order to break the cycle of the phenomenon, parents ought to give high premium to the education of their wards, especially the girl child. She advised the pupils to be disciplined and be respectful to their parents and teachers. She urged them to take their studies seriously and abstain from pre-marital sex, adding that at their age they risked contracting the HIV/AIDS disease.
