Half-Assini (W/R), July 29, GNA - A 171-million-cedi information technology centre to enhance the computer literacy programme of the Half-Assini Secondary School was inaugurated at Half-Assini on Monday. The project was established through the institution of a special levy of 25,000 cedis per student per term for four years and support from two former students of the school resident in the United Sates and Ms Emily Shroyer, a US Peace Corp.

The two old boys of the school, Professor Cyril Kofi Dadieh and Mr Fred Addo donated 25 computers and accessories while Ms Shroyer gave 15 computers and accessories to the centre.

Mr Victor Nyaney of the Western Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service inaugurated the project.

He commended the Parent Teacher Association of the school and the donors for working hard to make the centre a reality. Mr Nyaney advised the school's authorities to avoid charging unapproved fees that might discourage parents from sending their children to school.
