Happy 98.9 FM, through its award winning show, ‘Nsem Pii’, hosted by Pastor Wisdom Agodza popularly known as ‘Nyansaboakwa’ has raised a whooping sum of 50,000 Ghana cedis to support the surgery and other medical expenses of Henrietta Amoah, a young lady whose boyfriend doused her with acid.

This money was raised when listeners of the ‘Nsem Pii’ show, who got touched, donated massively to support the young lady after she had narrated her painful ordeal to Nyansaboakwa.

Recounting her ordeal, the young lady said around 10:00am that fateful morning, she entered the bathroom and just as she was about finishing taking her bath, she heard her boyfriend scream and call her name.

“Immediately I turned myself, something cold was poured on me. He poured the rest again and I felt the hotness of the acid so I mentioned his name. He took to his heels so people came and poured water on me and I was immediately rushed to the hospital,’’ she recounted.

Her whole face and head have been dangerously burnt and deformed, leading to her inability to see properly. The victim’s mother said the expensive cost of treatment was beyond the family, hence they had resorted to borrowing excessively to finance her treatment. This situation led the victim, Henrietta Amoah, to call Nyansaboakwa to narrate her ordeal to him, who in turn rallied listeners of the "Nsem Pii" show to donate towards her treatment.

According to Nyansaboakwa, “the main objective of Nsem Pii is to touch the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian and this young lady’s plight is no exception. I use my show to deal with personal issues of people that others may not ordinarily see as important. Through the benevolence of my loyal listeners we have raised over 50,000 Ghana cedis via mobile money donations to fly the young lady outside the country for surgery", Nyansaboakwa disclosed.

He added that, "we will continue to champion the cause of the poor and dejected in society since that is what God has called us to do."

Commenting on the issue, the Chief Executive Officer of Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company, operators of Happy FM, Mr. Ernest Boateng said, “This is one of our social responsibilities as an organization to our listeners and the general public. We are more than a sports-oriented station as we handle all important issues that will positively affect society. We also thank all listeners and the public profoundly for supporting the young lady and we pray that her surgery outside the country will be successful.

The surgery will commence this Saturday 4th March, 2017 hence, the victim and her mother will leave Ghana Friday 3rd March, 2017 to India.
