Headmaster Expresses Concern About Student Indiscipline

Mr Isaac Owusu, Headmaster of the Donkro-Nkwanta Junior Secondary School in the Brong Ahafo has expressed concern about the attitude of some final year students to stop attending classes after being registered for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

This year's examination is scheduled to start on Monday, April 7. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Donkro-Nkwanta, he said the practice was common in the area, adding that, the attitude was a source of worry to school authorities in the area.

Mr Owusu said even some of those who attended classes refused to concentrate on their studies and do not take instructions from their teachers, which contributed to the poor performance of students in the examination.

He appealed to parents to co-operate with teachers to check indiscipline among the students and help to mould them to become responsible citizens.

The headmaster urged the chiefs and elders to team up with the unit committees to enact by-laws to arrest such negative activities among the students.

Mr Owusu also appealed to school management committees and Parent Teacher Association executives to pay regular visits to schools to help address problems facing both teachers and students.
