A four-hour health screening exercise was conducted over the weekend for the people of Assokor in the Shama District of the Western Region.
The exercise, which formed part of the final funeral rites of the late chief of the town, Nana Brekrom I, and the first-anniversary commemoration of Nana Brekrom II, was to educate the public on their health and dangers associated with poor knowledge on their health status.
It started with a health walk from Anto to Assorko old park, where the people were taken through exercises such as aerobics.
After the health screening exercise, a physician assistant at the EffiaNkwanta Regional Hospital, Robert Bonney, advised the people to make their health issues their number one priority.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the chief for the initiative and asked for regular screening opportunity.
In all, about 99 people were screened for malaria, hepatitis B, glucose level, blood pressure and diabetes.
