The Chief of the Wa Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo has asked the leadership of the Nigeria community in Wa to help locate the whereabouts of a Nigerian COVID-19 patient who is currently on the run.
Forty-six-year-old Simon Okafor Chuckudi tested positive for COVID-19 last Monday but has since disappeared from his residence at Wapaani, a suburb of Wa after health officials informed him of his status.
His disappearance is causing panic among residents amid concerns of possible spread of the pandemic.
Currently, security services in the area have launched a search for him.
But the traditional authority has roped in the Nigerian community in the area to help track down their compatriot.
According to Class News’ regional correspondent, Abdulai Dan Hassan the chief has already contracted some Nigerians to fish out Chuckudi from his hideout for quarantine and medical care.
The Upper West region, so far, has recorded seven cases of the disease.
But Ghana as a whole as at Thursday, 16 April 2020 had recorded 614 cases, eight deaths and 83 recoveries.
