Ashalaja (GA), Nov. 11, GNA - The Hindu Monastery of Africa, a non-governmental organisation on Tuesday presented several books, including text books, note and exercise books to both primary school and JSS students at Ashalaja near Amasaman in the Ga West District. Briefing the Ghana News Agency after the ceremony, Mr. Swami Chananand Sarasarati, Head of Monastery said the books; valued at 10 million cedis were the NGO's contribution towards education in the district. It also offered two million cedis towards the construction of a new primary school in the town.
Mr Sarasarati called on the people to send their wards to school since now the government has come with free education. He said that the NGO would also give assistants in other ways to improve quality of education, especially in the rural areas.
Nii Akwanor the III, Chief of Ashalaja, who received the books and the cash commended the donors and called on the GA District Assembly to come to their aid for the completion of the school building projects. He also commended the Ga West branch of GNAT for the supply of 200 bags of cement for the project and called on non-resident citizens of the town to come home to support the development of the town.
