Ho, Sept. 22, GNA - Wallahs Academy, a private academic institution in the Ho Municipality, which offers holiday and remedial tuition for senior secondary school students, has donated 20 desks and other learning materials worth seven million cedis to the Ho Bankoe Roman Catholic (R.C) Junior Secondary School.

Presenting the items, Mr Maxwell Wallahs Affram, also known as Sir Wallahs, Proprietor of the Academy said the gesture was to complement government's effort in providing accessible and quality education for all.

He said the 20 desks were to afford the pupils enough sitting places to have relaxed minds to learn rather than squeeze in the available desks, which he said did not encourage individual work. Mr Afram underscored the importance of education, especially basic education, which he said formed the foundation for any further learning and urged corporate organizations, individuals and philanthropists to assist government in providing some learning and teaching materials. Mrs Agnes Selormey, Headmistress of the school expressed her appreciation for the effort of Wallahs Academy and said the donation was timely as the school was likely to face the problem of increased numbers in the light of the new fee free education.

She promised that the items would be put to good use to reduce the problem of "over loading of desks" and pupils having to provide their own tables and chairs.
