Ho Muslim students appeals for assistance

Ho, May 2, GNA - Muslim students at the Ho Polytechnic on Saturday appealed to benevolent individual and organisations to help them build a Mosque at the institution to facilitate worship there.

Mr Muhammed Abdul-Kuwuiyu, President of Ho Polytechnic branch of the Ghana Muslim Students Association, made the appeal through the Ghana News Agency after a two-hour clean up exercise by members at Ho. He said a plot had been apportioned by the authorities of the Polytechnic for the building of a Mosque and promised that Muslim students would work hard to ensure the success of any such project.

The students cleared the weeds at the GNA compound in Ho, which also houses the Graphic Communications Group, Ghanaian Times and the Food and Drugs Board (FDB.

Mr Abdul-Kawuiyu said Muslims want to be seen to be an integral part of society and, therefore, would assist in solving problems such poor sanitary conditions adding "That is why we go out periodically to undertake such exercises in communities to show example to others to keep their surroundings clean".

Mr Rahmani Narh, Iman of the Branch, said Muslims were bound by the teachings of the Koran to show interest in the affairs of their community and be concerned about the welfare of their neighbours. He said the Branch has 30 members, including students from the Nursing Training Institutions in Ho.
