Ho Polytechnic enters agreement for 2,000 bed hostel

The Ho Polytechnic has entered into agreement with a private investor to build a 2,000 bed students’ hostel.

“This is expected to reduce the accommodation challenges on campus”, Professor Emmanuel Kojo Sakyi, Rector announced at the matriculation of 1,319 students on Friday.

He said the Polytechnic currently operates two halls of residence which together accommodate less than 1,000 students with other students spilling over to private hostels around.

Professor Sakyi commended the Dean of Students for working to streamline the operations of the private hostels.

He said given the economic challenges facing parents, Management of the Polytechnic “took a painful decision this year to allow continuing students to pay 55 percent of their fees and register.”

Professor Sakyi said though the decision would affect the Polytechnic financially, he hoped students would be honest enough and clear their debts before the Second Semester.

He commended the Dean of Students for supporting 11 students to settle their 55 percent part- payment of fees through the Dean of Students Foundation (DOSFUND) and appealed to philanthropists to donate to the Fund in support of needy students.
