Ho Polytechnic to enforce strict discipline

Dr Victor Jakpasu Afun, Rector of the Ho Polytechnic, on Friday advised fresh students with discipline problems to hang them outside for the duration of their courses.

“If you find it hard to quit or have any emotional maladjustment, please consult the Counselling Unit or any of the numerous Pastors and Priests on Campus for help, he said.

Dr Afun who was addressing the fresh students at their matriculation, warned them against mob action.

“In case of any such misconduct you will not be treated as a group but as individuals and face sanctions as such.”

Dr Afun said the Polytechnic has an unbending attitude towards the use of narcotics and stimulants, physical and sexual assault, homosexuality, occultism, provocative dressing, fraud, wayward behavior “and a host of other vices gaining root in our campuses these days.”

He therefore advised them to keep the words in their matriculation oath ringing in their ears, hearts and minds as long as they remained at the Polytechnic, adding, “Every aspect of your life must submit to the rules and regulations of the Polytechnic,” and the laws of the country.

Dr Afun assured the fresh students that “there is so much freedom here compared to the secondary schools you are coming from. But that is a danger.”

“My advice to you is that, apply yourself to common sense and space out your energies to carry you through.”

“If at the end of the first year, you trail more than four courses or if your Cumulative Grade Point Average falls below 1.00, you will be shown the exit and come no more.”

“Do not study without praying and never use all your time praying and evangelizing at the expense of your studies,” Dr Afun admonished.
