Hoteliers Association in Techiman elects executives

Techiman (B/A), Oct. 4, GNA - Members of Techiman Zonal branch of Hoteliers Association of Ghana, have elected a seven-member interim executives to study the activities and management of hotels in the zone. Mr Philip Kofi Ntiamoah of Tano Lodge at Techiman is Chairman, with Mr Matthew Kenneth Adom of Adom Guesthouse at Kintampo, as Vice Chairman, Mr Joseph John Were of Agyeiwaa Hotel at Techiman, Secretary and Mr. James Yaw Frimpong-Tachie of Emmanuel Inn, Techiman, Treasurer. The others were Mr Thomas Appiah, Mikesap Hotel, Nkoranza, Organizing Secretary, Mr Thomas Baah, Wenchi Hotel, member and Mr John Manu of Yunam Hotel at Kintampo, also member. Mr Ntiamoh urged the proprietors of hotels to register their staff under the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to give them security and also to enable them to benefit under the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He asked them to keep their premises clean and to ensure that their patrons also enjoyed the necessary security, so they could rope in more customers to patronize their hotels.

Mr Adom, Vice Chairman, decried the high bills the Value Added Tax (VAT) Secretariat charge hotels and called for a review. He called on his colleague hoteliers to be regular at meetings and to contribute positively towards the growth of the association. The vice chairman advised managers of hotels to establish cordial working relationship with their workers and encourage them to render selfless services to their patrons.

Mr Appiah, organizing secretary, called on the Vat Secretariat to mount an educational campaign to educate members of the association about their operations to maximize returns to VAT. He advised directors of hotels to engage in frequent interactions with the managements of other hotels to help improve their services.
