Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama
Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for Bantama Constituency, has denied accusations of describing the Accra–Kumasi Expressway project as a "waste."
The former Minister of Roads clarified that he only suggested completing existing road projects on the highway instead of starting a new one.
“Government had already committed funds into the expansion and dualization of the Kumasi–Accra Highway, so for the government to come up with a whole new project to construct an expressway without completing the earlier project is worrying," he said in an interview.
Speaking to Kwaku Owusu Boateng (KOB) on the Kumasi-based OTEC FM’s morning show Nyansapo on Friday, Asenso-Boakye accused his colleagues from the other side of painting him black, saying the allegations are meant to undermine his reputation.
The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, had earlier accused Asenso-Boakye of opposing the government’s planned Accra–Kumasi Expressway programme, claiming it would benefit his constituency.
Francis Asenso-Boakye has, however, called out the Majority for twisting his argument, urging the public to disregard the information.
